- 악셀 호네트의 “규범적 재구성” -
자신의 두 번째 걸작라고 평가 받는 『자유의 권리』에서 호네트는 “규범적 재구성”이라는 연구방법을 제안한다. 이것은 현대 정치철학의 주류를 이루고 있는 칸트적 구성주의에 맞서, 경험적 사회연구와 규범적 철학의 통합을 추구하는 헤겔 좌파적 이론기획의 실행을 위한 연구방법이다. 이 논문은 규범적 재구성을 먼저 호네트의 인정이론의 발전 맥락에서 기존의 이론전략적 구상들의 혁신적 종합으로 자리매김한다(1). 그런 다음 이 연구방법을 네 측면으로 나누어 설명한다(2). 이 연구방법을 둘러싼 여러 쟁점이 있는데, 이 논문은 그 중에서 다음의 두 쟁점을 집중적으로 살펴본다. 하나는 이 연구방법이 보수적 현실긍정의 편향을 갖는지에 관한 것이고(3), 다른 하나는 이 재구성 방법의 규범적 지침이 되는 자유가 호네트가 주장하는 것처럼 현대 사회의 유일한 궁극적 가치인가 하는 것이다(4).
A Study of Honneth’s “Normative Reconstruction”
In his second magnum opus, Freedom’s Right, Axel Honneth proposes “normative reconstruction” as a research method for critical theory of society. In this article, firstly I follow this research method in the development of his theoretical-strategic reflections on critical theory. This method ist the innovative synthesis of those reflections. Secondly, I present it in four respects. In the following sections, I reexamine two controversies of normative reconstruction: whether this method has a tendency towards conservative affirmation and to what extent Honneth's thesis that freedom is the only ultimate value in modernity, can be justified.
